Dartmoor Dark Sky Walk
February 9 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm£25
Dark Sky Walk with Dartmoor Guides
Join us for an unforgettable evening under the stars where we will lead you on an enchanting journey through the dark woods to the top of Bellever Tor. Although Dartmoor doesn’t have official ‘dark skies’ designation the skies here are among the best in southern England for stargazing. Here in central Dartmoor we can escape the city lights and be immersed in the natural beauty of the moors and night sky. This is the night of the New Moon which means it will be especially dark and good for stargazing.
Weather permitting we will be able to see a wide range of constellations including Andromeda, Cassiopeia, Orion, Gemini, Ursa Major and Minor to name but a few. We may be lucky enough to see some meteors of the Alpha Centaurid meteor shower which peaks around this time in February. Of the planets, Jupiter will form the centrepiece of the night sky. Don’t miss out on this chance to connect with the cosmos, deepen your appreciation for the night sky and experience Dartmoor in the dark! Your walk will be led by Dartmoor Guides partner Graeme Forster, qualified mountain leader and Dartmoor resident with many years of experience leading groups in the hills and mountains of the UK.
