Big Garden Birdwatch at Belle Isle Park

January 27 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

This is the world’s largest garden wildlife survey with over half a million people taking part in 2023. In the last 50 years, we’ve lost a shocking 38 million birds from the UK’s skies and so it’s never been more important to look after – and look out for – our bird life. To find out more, and to register (if you would like to contribute separately or in small groups around the park), please follow the link below: https://www.rspb.org.uk/whats-happening/big-garden-birdwatch?utm_source=notes_on_nature_20231209&utm_medium=email&utm_term=notes_on_nature&utm_content=7&utm_campaign=notes_on_nature

We’ll meet at 11:00 and begin the 1 hour bird watch at 11:30. At 12:30 we’ll come together to compare and record the results. Afterwards, we have the option of walking 5 mins to the local Port Royal pub for lunch.

Please bring any bird ID resources and binoculars if you have any. Some will be available on the day.

Please dress appropriately for the weather. Please note that there are no toilets in the park. Nearest public toilets are at the quayside, 10-15 mins walk away.

On Sunday 28th, 10-13:00, (weather permitting), Friends of Belle Isle Park will be running a bird box-making workshop. We aim to make and install around 40 bird boxes in the park to support local birds this coming spring as part of our ongoing work to boost biodibersity in the area.
Please register for this event separately via the Green Drinks page.
